A Half-Century of Dedication: Celebrating Bob Pitt's Remarkable Career Journey
As we reflect on the five decades that Bob has dedicated to our team, it’s impossible not to be impressed by the sheer magnitude of his contributions. His journey began on January 28, 1974 when Bob, a teenager, first walked through our doors as a Tape Wrapper. The company was named Bemis at the time and the starting rate for Bob’s role was $3.59/hr. Little did anyone know that this would mark the beginning of an extraordinary legacy.
During his career, Bob held many jobs in the Coating Department, dabbled in Maintenance, Paper Mill and eventually landed in the Shipping Department as a Shipping Clerk. In January 1998, Bob was promoted to Customer Service Manager and Supervisor of the Converting Department. Day in and day out, Bob made sure customers got the products they needed, whether it was magically finding a truck when no one else could, fitting in a last minute order on a tight schedule or hundreds of other requests he somehow fulfilled.
Bob successfully balanced his roles at Ivex with those of husband, father, and grandfather. His devotion to family shines through, evident in the joy he finds in talking about them and spending time with them. Retirement will undoubtedly afford him even more time to enjoy these cherished moments with his loved ones.
We all have great respect for Bob and many memories to share from time spent with him. Here are a few stories from our Ivex family:
“One of the most memorable things for me about Bob is his steel trap memory. We’d be sitting in meetings talking about who we thought was a new potential customer and he’d say something like ‘we made XYZ paper for them back in the Fall of 1984’. I’m not sure how he does that decades later, along with the operational stuff he does every day. I also remember when I first started at Ivex, he came and found me to let me know about fun things to do in the area so I’d feel welcome. I wish you and your family all the best, Bob!”
– Michelle Witt, Director of Marketing
“When reviewing Bob’s personnel file to share info about his long history with Ivex, there was not one single disciplinary action form found. Based on past stories I’ve heard, I found this hard to believe. So I reviewed the file to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I didn’t. Unless when he was supposed to sign one and he threw it away instead. That doesn’t sound like Bob at all. LOL! Kidding aside, in 1997 Bob and his wife and two daughters welcomed three beautiful triplets. Over the years, I’ve witnessed Bob to be one of the best fathers I’ve ever known. It’s been a pleasure seeing his children grow and I’ve enjoyed the stories and photos he’s shared. Then came the grandchildren, which Bob adores. Whenever he talks about them and shares photos, his eyes light up and his smile is far and wide. Wishing you a Happy Retirement with your family, Bob!”
– Angie Klein, HR Manager
“Bob is super dedicated to the mill and its people. He is unmatched in his commitment to Ivex’s customers and to its future. As far as Angie’s comments about his write-ups, I believe those were purged and ended up in the pulper with help from Stan and Chuck. I am sorry that I will not be there on Friday. I am expecting a 0 or 1 ton in the ‘Daily Tons Sold’ line on the production report on his last day!!! Somehow he made the sales numbers look good – ‘it works on paper’! Have a great retirement and see you soon!”
– Larry Rohman, Retired Ivex Team Member
As we bid farewell to Bob, we do so not with sadness, but with immense gratitude and admiration. His legacy is a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and unwavering dedication.
To Bob: Thank you for 50 years of dedication, inspiration and friendship. We extend our heartfelt congratulations on reaching this extraordinary milestone. May your well-deserved retirement be filled with joy, health, relaxation, and fulfillment that you have so richly earned. As you step into this new chapter of life, know that your impact will be felt for years to come, shaping the fabric of Ivex as it moves forward.
With gratitude and the warmest wishes,
Your Ivex Family
