Ivex Specialty Paper was acquired by New-Indy Containerboard (NICB) June 30, 2015. New-Indy is a joint venture that was formed in 2012 by the Kraft Group and Schwarz Partners, LP, two family-owned companies with long histories in paper and packaging. NICB uses 100% recycled fiber in our manufacturing process. The mills receive over 100 truckloads of Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) on a daily basis. This material is reduced to a slurry and then re-formed to create new brown paper. The recycled paper is then sent to box plants throughout our local markets.
NICB owns four mills: One in Ontario, Oxnard, Hartford City, and of course, Peoria. Over the years, the mills have undergone major improvements, including installation of advanced air emissions control equipment (which reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides), waste-water treatment plants (which clean and recycle waste-water) and numerous other upgrades.
New Indy Ivex Specialty Papers is excited for this change and we have been enjoying working with our new owners so far!
